Sitting in a jail cell, both phantom thieves appeared to be uncaring, right at home in a place that for all intents and purposes should have scared them shitless. Then again, stealing from thieves and the yakuza... they were probably safer in jail.

Crichton watched them from his seat at the security counsel, feet propped up on his desk as the officer reclined. He wasn't new blood on the force, but he wasn't an old veteran, either, and it wasn't the first time he'd watched the two. Actually, by his count it was the third time, not counting the few times that they'd stalked him and caught him off guard while he was off duty.

They weren't the worst people, nice, honest, if one could ever call a thief honest, and genuinely likeable. When they got caught it was because they allowed it, for the thrill, the laughs, and simply because they were bored.

Crichton was one of the officers the two thieves liked, often times joking with him at stakeouts while under disguise. His temporary partner, on the other hand... He chuckled when on screen Dark Mousey raised both hands to flick De'Naro off through the camera, while said man sputtered in indignation and started cursing up a storm.

Next to Dark, Daisuke Niwa rolled his eyes and climbed into his lap, mouth moving. Knowing the red head, he'd just told his partner to play nice. They were unabashed about touching each other, more then once being caught making out in their cell.

Watching them, observing them, their actions and speech, he could see the love they shared. And he was one of the many to admit that if they ever did get caught, things wouldn't be the same.

There were good people, and bad people, and then there were people like the phantom thieves, good but so bad. But they were happy, truly happy, in ways that... Crichton couldn't even conceive himself being.

Understanding that must have warped him, or simply made him 'see the light', because he could no longer see things as right or wrong anymore. Everything had formed into muted shades of existence, with Dark and Daisuke sitting in the middle.

No longer did he take things as face value, obeying orders without a question, a dumb lamb in a herd of sheep, hunted by wolves. He was one of the wolves, instead, even if he was still in the clothing of a sheep.

The officer smiled as he noticed that the phantom thieves were no longer in their cell, while his partner cursed and jumped up, running around as a chicken with it's head cut off. Crichton himself just shrugged and leaned further back into his chair.

Either the man would learn that on the gray scale the thieves were of no threat, that it was a waste of power to chase them, or he would end up hanging from the ceiling. Not that Crichton cared either way.

Fandom: DN Angel
Pairing: DarkDaisuke
Notes: Mer. I'm so fucking dead. >> I have a Art Trade due, a prize, and a couple of contest entries. But I wanted to post something, so... Here we go.
I wrote this one a few weeks ago, actually. Along with it's mate 19, Drugs and Alcohol. If you can guess where the names of the guards came from, you get a net-cookie, and a small drabble-prize. I know, I'm adding MORE to my work load, but... I'm hoping it'll get me in gear.
EDIT: :iconakzeal: won. The correct answer was Crichton, who wrote Jurassic Park.

No clue who De'Naro is. Crichton denies global climate change. He also did a book about dinosarus that got a rather popular movie made for it. And a sequel. And another sequel.
